It is with deep appreciation for 50 years of meritorious service that we announce the retirement of senior HR executive Shirley Whitesell from Amsted Industries. In her five decades at the company, Shirley—in her capacity as VP-People—has had a profound impact on nurturing individual employee careers as well as enhancing the growth of the company as a whole.
A career filled with accomplishment
Looking back, Shirley considers her most successful projects for the company to be launching a talent management program and Amsted’s Innovation Initiative. “I’m also very proud of launching our cost-effective, high deductible health care plan and health savings accounts,” added Shirley.
What lies ahead: golf and grandkids
There’s no grand plan for retirement, according to Shirley: “We have homes in Indiana, Michigan and Key West and plan to spend time at all three, playing golf and enjoying life and our twin grandsons.” And just to keep her mind occupied, Shirley may pursue a little volunteer work and consulting work on the side.
“Nobody has earned her retirement more than Shirley,” said Amsted Industries CEO Steve Smith. “She was passionate, dedicated and a true change agent.”
Wayne Luce will take over Shirley’s role
Replacing Shirley Whitesell on the Leadership Team will be HR veteran Wayne Luce, who brings a 20-year track record of success in Human Resources at Amsted Industries to his new position.
